Cancer Research UK is as concerned with supporting cancer patients as it is with cancer research itself. We have a huge communications team dedicated to providing information to patients, members of the public, journalists, politicians and others.
We produce a large number of leaflets, booklets, and health awareness materials aimed at increasing knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding cancer. Please see the 'Our publications' section of this website for details and downloadable files.
In response to a growing demand for information about cancer on the Internet, we helped to develop a website called CancerHelp UK (www.cancerhelp.org.uk). This now provides detailed information about different types of cancer for patients, family and friends. The site also includes a searchable database of clinical trials, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their treatment.
CancerHelp UK was launched in 1995 and is now a well established patient-oriented website with around 5,000 pages of information. It receives between around 10,000 visits each day and has received a number of awards. In November 2000, the site launched a Clinical Trials database, with information about current treatment trials in the UK.
