Statistics on the most commonly diagnosed types of cancer in the UK

There are more than 200 different types of cancer. Four of them account for over half of all new cases and, in order, they are:

  1. Breast Cancer
  2. Lung Cancer
  3. Large Bowel Cancer
  4. Prostate Cancer

This section provides comprehensive statistical information for 26 of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the UK. Please select the type of cancer you are interested in from the menu on the left.

The cancer registries of the UK do not release cancer statistics right up to the current year. ISD Scotland give a good explanation of why we are not able to use data right up to the current year.
