Thanks for using Cancer Research UK’s Track Your Drinking gadget. We hope you have enjoyed using the alcohol gadget so far and are finding it useful. This page contains some information about the information collected through the gadget.

Why did you build this gadget?

The Track Your Drinking gadget is intended to allow people to monitor their own drinking habits. Alcohol is an important cause of cancer. We hope that the gadget will give people the information the need to allow them to make informed decisions about how much they drink..

Why are you asking for information on gender, age and region?

By entering this information, the gadget will become more useful to you. Drinking limits differ for men and women so entering your gender will allow the gadget to give you more relevant recommendations. Entering you age and region will allow you to compare your drinking habits with other people of the same age, or who live in the same region.

Why are you asking for names and email addresses?

We will not be using your personal data in conjunction with your drinking data to send you targeted information about your drinking habits.

We only plan on using your name and email address to contact you with details of our activities, such as fundraising events. The gadget allows you to choose to receive this information and you will not be contacted if you choose not to. Similarly, we may want to share your details with organisations that are supportive of Cancer Research UK's charitable aims and objectives, but again, you can opt out of this.

If you decide that you do not want to submit your name and email address after reading our Terms and Conditions, clicking on the Cancel button will remove any stored trace of your information.

Will Cancer Research UK be able to see any details on my Google account?

No. The information that you provide to Google when you set up your Google account is stored separately to any information that you enter into the gadget. This means that we cannot see any personal details that you may have provided to Google.

Will Google be able to see information on my drinking habits?

Absolutely not, for the same reason as above.
