Our policy positions

In this section, you can find out about Cancer Research UK's position on the key policy issues affecting cancer and cancer research.

These issues are organised into five themes, covering different areas of policy. They are:

  • Future of cancer services - our overall cancer policy and our views on the future of cancer services.
  • Cancer services and treatments - access to treatment including drug treatment, surgery and radiotherapy.
  • Patient information - the importance of accurate information for patients about the treatments they are receiving and the choices they are asked to make.
  • Cancer treatment and clinical policy -including topics such as access to treatment, clinical trials, staff training, manpower and capacity issues, and the future of genetics for cancer treatment.

Our consultation responses, which are all available to download in PDF format. Cancer Research UK frequently responds to consultations on policy matters that are issued by the European Commission, the UK Government and its agencies, Parliament and others.

Consultations are an opportunity for the government or other agencies to find out people’s views and receive their comments and suggestions on a subject.
