Erlotinib

Name: Single Technology Appraisal: Erlotinib for the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
Source: National Institute for Clinical Excellence
Date: December 2006

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) were commissioned by the Department of Health and the Welsh Assembly Government to conduct a single technology appraisal of erlotinib for the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer and provide guidance on its use to the NHS in England and Wales.

Cancer Research UK have responded suggesting that NICE should make no recommendation about erlotinib until clear evidence becomes available, and that in the meantime lung cancer specialists, in discussion with their patients, should be able to consider prescribing erlotinib for locally advanced and metastatic NSCLC.
