In July 2006, the Department of Health published proposals for strengthening commissioning in England, and invited comments on the suggestions.
Cancer Research UK welcomes the clarification of the commissioning cycle. We believe that commissioning must take account of the evidence base for treatment and care; and that clinical audit and research should be an integral part of any commissioned service. It is our view that these elements of commissioning should be specified nationally.
