In September 2001 the Welsh Assembly Government published ‘The Learning Country’, a strategic programme to 2010 for education and lifelong learning in Wales.

In 2006, they evaluated the programme, reported on progress and launched a public consultation.

Cancer Research UK responded to the consultation, stressing support for a ‘whole-school’ approach to healthy eating.
