In July 2005, the Food Standards Agency consulted on a model of nutrient profiling that had been developed in order to help support the work being done by Ofcom to regulate the advertising and promotion of foods that are high in fat, saturated fat, salt and sugar to children.
Cancer Research UK supported the development of a nutrient profiling model to help Ofcom with their review of the broadcast advertising of food to children during children’s television programming.
Our response highlighted support for the nutrient profiling model proposed by the FSA. The model will seek to help distinguish between healthier foods that can be consumed regularly, and less healthy food that should only be consumed in moderation.
