The UKCRC published a draft report, "Developing the best research professionals - Qualified graduate nurses: recommendations for preparing and supporting clinical academic nurses of the future", which it asked Cancer Research UK to comment on.
The report’s recommendations address the need for a clearly defined, but flexible, career structure that allows nurses to combine research with nurse training or clinical practice, and the need for good role models, which we fully support. We also highlighted the importance of the large number of nurses who do not want to become primary investigators, and that their training and support should not be overlooked.
