Sunscreen labelling
Name: Consultation on a draft text for a European Commission Recommendation on the efficacy of sunscreen products and claims relating thereto

A draft recommendation on the efficacy of sunscreen products and claims related thereto was drawn up by an expert group chaired by the European Commission, and consulted on in summer 2006.
Cancer Research UK strongly supports the Commission initiative to simplify sunscreen labelling across the EU to try to improve public health.
We believe that consumers should be given clear and accurate information about sunscreen products and agree that the proposed Recommendation will help consumers to compare different sun protection products more easily and enable them to make more informed choices.
