Cancer Research UK responded to the AMRC’s discussion document on working with industry. They suggested that whilst charity collaborations with industry are an essential and inevitable aspect of the way medicines and treatments are developed, there is a need for charities to ensure public confidence in what they do by being more open and transparent.
Cancer Research UK agrees that the integrity of medical research charities is necessary for our continued success, and therefore welcomed the development of the guidelines suggested by the AMRC. We believe that these collaborations are valuable and necessary to translating research into patient benefit, it is important that this is not overlooked.
