Ethnic Minority Cancer Awareness Week (7th - 13th July 2008)
Cancer Research UK, in partnership with a number of other charities, launched the Ethnic Minority Cancer Awareness Week (7th-13th of July).
The first of its kind in the UK the week was started with an event at the House of Commons hosted by MPs Sadiq Khan and Dr Ian Gibson. Sir Trevor Macdonald attended the event and officially launched the week. On the policy side the week called for a number of changes to be made within cancer services, including the systematic collection of ethnicity data.
Throughout the week there have also been a number of community based events aimed at raising cancer awareness among the diverse communities within the UK population.
