Our policy on improving collection of screening data
In order to accurately evaluate screening programmes across the four nations we need clear, consistent and comparable information on the range and their uptake. Currently, information about screening programmes is not systematically collated across the UK.
A coordinated strategy is needed for the collection of date on uptake and roll-out of new and existing screening programmes.
It is known that there are some communities, such as some Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) groups, who are less likely to access screening programmes.
A UK system of data collection to monitor uptake and acceptance should include a requirement to record ethnicity data.
