Radiotherapy Report

Radiotherapy is a crucial part of cancer treatment. After surgery, radiotherapy is known to cure more cancers than any other treatments.

However, the UK now lags some way behind our European and US counterparts in the quality and quantity of radiotherapy we are delivering.

To understand where improvements are needed, Cancer Research UK commissioned a ‘state of the nations’ report. For the first time, this report brings together data from across the four nations of the UK, setting out the current challenges and making recommendations for change.

While good progress has been made in recent years, not least since the publication of national radiotherapy planning reports in England, Scotland and Wales, this report shows that we are still some way short of delivering a world-class radiotherapy service.
