Working in Europe

Legislation is drafted in Europe and passed into national law by the governments of each Member State which governs many important areas, from how we look after patients taking part in clinical trials to how our food is labelled.

Cancer Research UK is the largest independent cancer research organisation in Europe and the European leader in the development of new anti-cancer treatments. In fact, we fund more cancer research than any other organisation in Europe, other than the German Government!

What does Cancer Research UK do?

We monitor the new laws proposed and drafted in Europe. Our experts advise the European Commission and the MEPs in the European Parliament on the best way to make sure that European legislation promotes scientific research and benefits cancer patients.

Where we can, we work together with other organisations to lobby for legislation and policies that will benefit patients.
