The parliamentary reception for Cancer Research UK’s Commit To Beat Cancer campaign was held in the House of Commons on 2nd February. The event aimed to boost support for Cancer Research UK’s aim to make the UK’s cancer outcomes among the best in Europe in the next ten years.

The event was hosted by the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer, John Baron MP. MPs and stakeholders from the cancer, health and science communities attended the reception. Speeches were given by Cancer Research UK’s Chief Executive Harpal Kumar and Health Minister Ann Keen MP.

The Commit To Beat Cancer campaign asks supporters to contact their prospective parliamentary candidates ahead of the General Election, asking them to help make the UK’s cancer outcomes among the best in Europe if they are elected. The candidates are asked to sign a Cancer Commitment giving their support to take action to detect cancer earlier, provide world class treatment, prevent more cancers, tackle cancer inequalities and protect the UK’s research base if they are elected.
