MPs kickstart Britain's Biggest Breakfast

Tooting MP, Sadiq Khan, and Battersea MP, Martin Linton, join pupils from High View Primary School for Britain's Biggest Breakfast.MPs Martin Linton and Sadiq Khan urged people to work up an appetite for a healthy meal and join Cancer Research UK's latest fund-raising initiative - Britain's Biggest Breakfast.

Anyone can join in Britain's Biggest Breakfast by hosting a breakfast party any time in March in order to raise funds for Cancer Research UK's life saving work.

A healthy start to the day

The MPs gave the fundraising campaign a fantastic kick-start, as they joined pupils from High View Primary school for breakfast at L.A.R.A. Community Centre in Battersea. They are encouraging everyone to sign up with Cancer Research UK to have a Breakfast, in order to raise funds to help more people survive cancer.

Martin Linton, MP for Battersea, said: "I really liked taking part in Britain's Biggest Breakfast. It's a really easy and enjoyable way to raise money for Cancer Research UK, which is such an important cause."

Sadiq Khan, MP for Tooting, added: "Cancer touches the lives of one in three people in the UK. It has also touched the lives of close members of my direct family so I feel very strongly about supporting Cancer Research UK and making people realise the importance of eating healthily to prevent cancer...and it's great fun to all have breakfast together too!"

Several more of their Parliamentary colleagues will be taking part in Breakfast events in their constituencies.

Healthy living

Researchers believe that around a third of all cancers are linked to diet, obesity and alcohol. A healthy breakfast gives you a boost of nutrients and means you're less likely to snack on unhealthy foods before lunch. Incorporating fruit and veg into your breakfast will also help towards the recommended five portions a day.
