`Cancer Champion¿ parliamentary awards

Cancer Research UK recently presented its first ‘Cancer Champion’ awards to parliamentarians who have played a key role in making a difference to cancer issues in parliament over the last year.

The ‘Cancer Champion’ awards for 2006 were presented to parliamentarians who have all played an important role in helping to secure comprehensive smokefree legislation.

The winners were:

A special ‘Cancer Champion’ award was also presented to Fiona Castle, widow of the entertainer Roy Castle, for her hard work and dedication in campaigning for enclosed smokefree workplaces.
