Local activity - Getting results
These pages showcase the work of cancer networks and PCTs in implementing the national awareness and early diagnosis (NAEDI) agenda.
The results are coming in from the 62 projects funded by the Department of Health/National Cancer Action Team in 2009/10, and the best examples of this, and other local awareness and early diagnosis work, will be featured on these pages.
The local awareness and early diagnosis work includes:
-
Sustaining local support for NAEDI:
- gathering information to shape a strategy and to provide a baseline for future monitoring and evaluation
- changing hearts and minds, through nurturing clinical leadership, influencing commissioners and creating governance to implement the strategy
-
Interventions, services and service change for the public
- public awareness raising initiatives, either social marketing or community led initiatives or a combination of both
-
Interventions, services and service change in primary care
- working with primary care on service improvement
NEW A report drawing on work by the Health Inequalities National Support Team (HINST) and NCAT in the 60 areas with the worst health and highest levels of deprivation in England has been published to support the awareness and early diagnosis agenda. The concise guide explains what data are available to help identify whether an area has more preventable deaths than other areas, what is causing the problem, and how to design interventions to address it.
