Learning sets - sharing experience of cancer awareness and early diagnosis

The National Cancer Action Team has been running learning sets to share the knowledge and experience that cancer networks, PCTs and local projects have gained in their work on awareness and early diagnosis of cancer.

The events provided an opportunity for people to hear a presentation and to share experience with colleagues they wouldn’t normally meet, in a confidential and supportive environment.

The learning set programme has ended but NCAT is developing new ways to share learning about engaging primary care in cancer awareness. For more information, contact Sally Williams at Sally.Williams@Frontlinemc.com

Sharing learning about engaging primary care

To see the slide presentations made by GP leads and cancer network directors at the learning sets and read articles about their presentations see Sharing and Learning: Engaging GPs and Primary Care here.

Also on the NCAT website you can read a guide that distills the experience of GP cancer leads and cancer network directors in engaging primary care in the early diagnosis agenda. The report is based on two rounds of learning sets held in 2011; one for cancer networks and one for PCT staff running cancer awareness projects being supported by Cancer Research UK.

Sharing learning about the public health perspective on engaging primary care

A further round of sharing and learning sets took place in autumn 2011, looking at the public health contribution to engaging primary care in early diagnosis.
