The virus that causes AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). People with HIV seem to be slightly more prone to developing certain types of cancer, notably lymphoma, than the general population. This may be because their weakened immune system is not as good at fighting off other viruses that are linked to cancer, although this has not yet been proved conclusively.
