Lifetime risk is the probability, usually expressed as a percentage (e.g. 33%) or a fraction (e.g. 1 in 3), of developing a condition such as cancer over the course of a lifetime. Risk is also often expressed over a shorter period, for instance the risk of being diagnosed with cancer from birth up to and including age 64.
