Bone cancer - A to Z

The bonesCancers that start in the bone or connective tissue (cartilage) are quite rare, and there are around 2,000 new cases in the UK each year. They are different from cancers that first develop at other sites in the body and then spread to the bones later on.

We know that treatment with radiotherapy for another type of cancer may increase the risk of bone cancer later in life. But it can also be caused by certain bone diseases or genetic conditions.

Cancer Research UK funds a range of research into bone cancer, including finding ways to improve existing treatments for the disease.
