More than 10,600 people are diagnosed with melanoma each year in the UK. The number of people getting melanoma now is 4 times higher than in the 1970s.
There is one main factor that increases the risk of developing melanoma - ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light comes from the sun or sunbeds.
