Radiotherapy - A to Z
This page links to content about radiotherapy.
Radiotherapy means the use of 'radiation', usually X-rays, to treat illness. Along with surgery and chemotherapy, it is one of the main treatments used to tackle cancer. Around 4 out of 10 people with cancer have radiotherapy as part of their treatment.
As part of our 5-year research strategy – we’re reinvigorating research into radiotherapy in the UK and investing in the next generation of experts. We want to make the treatment more precise and effective, to save more lives and reduce side effects.
- We’re currently campaigning to improve radiotherapy services in the NHS and will be taking our petition to Downing Street on 3rd November. Find out more and sign the petition today.
