Vaginal cancer - A to Z
This page links to content about vaginal cancer.
Vaginal cancer is very rare in the UK, with about 240 cases diagnosed each year. Survival rates have improved since the 1970s.
The most important risk factor for vaginal cancer is age. Most women who get this type of cancer are over 60, and it is very rare in women under 40. Women with certain infections, including human papilloma virus (HPV) or HIV, are also more likely to get vaginal cancer.
