Lesson plan - What is cancer?
Overview
Using case studies and web-based investigation, students will become familiar with the biology of cancer and its causes, and how these are linked to lifestyle.
This lesson plan has strong links with the GSCE Science, Citizenship and PSHE curriculum.

| 0-15 mins | Explain the aims of the lesson. Use a thought shower as a warm up to find out what students already know about cancer (Exercise 1) | Whiteboard |
| 20 mins | Divide the class in to groups and give them copies of cancer case studies to discuss possible causes of the disease (Exercise 2) | Copies of the different cancer case studies and large pieces of paper/mini-whiteboards for the mindmap |
